AMERICAN CENTURY CLASSIC RECAP

HIGHLIGHTS

In July, we were thrilled to take part in our first large-scale, sponsored event since the pandemic. And what an event it was! The American Century Championship is a celebrity golf tournament on the shores of Lake Tahoe, Nevada, and it’s always a great time.

With celebrities and athletes like Joe Buck, Rob Riggle, Mardy Fish, Brian Urlacher, Chase Utley, David Wells, Greg Maddux, Jimmy Rollins, Mark Mulder, Michael Pena, Mike Vrabel, Sean McDermott, Sean Payton, Steve Young, and Derek Lowe all wearing TravisMathew and Cuater gear, we had a ton of representation on the field.

“What I saw out there I could have never dreamed 14 years ago when TravisMathew began,” CEO Ryan Ellis shared. “It looked like 50% of people were wearing the brand, whether they wore it coming in, bought it from one of our event trailers, or were given a promo hat. I really have never seen anything like this in the clothing industry in my 20 years.”

The tournament was televised on NBC where we had five commercials that aired throughout the event. For the week, we set up camp at the 17th and 18th holes with two of our event vehicles (a.k.a. party trailers!), where we gave out promo hats (which went like hotcakes), played cornhole, and even watched Steph Curry sink a crazy shot in one of our basketball hoops.

While we were glued to the action all weekend, we also got a little work done hosting the SubPar podcast, filming shorts for Golf.com, and conducting interviews with guests like Rob Riggle, Chase Utley, Mark Mulder, Michael Pena, and Joe Buck on the roof of our party trailer The Eleanor. Keep your eyes peeled for some excellent content coming your way from the tournament, including a few new episodes of our Off the Record video series.
